Amaro Freitas

Brazilian pianist Amaro Freitas will perform at Matosinhos em Jazz on July 6, at 6 PM, at the Jardim Basílio Teles. Playing in a trio format, the musician presents a project that blends jazz with Brazilian popular music, Afro-modernism, and African rhythmic heritage. In 2024, he released Y’Y, his fourth album, inspired by the Amazon rainforest and the rivers of Brazil, which received attention from international critics. Amaro Freitas has performed across various European venues and festivals, collaborated with artists such as Dino D’Santiago and Criolo, and has been recognized with awards including the Multishow “Instrumentalist of the Year” and a Latin Grammy nomination.
